FAQS

What do the Classes Offer?
Each class at Mumford Academy includes a dynamic warm-up, building upon and refining new skills, individualized attention to each dancer, a review of what we have learned, and an isometric cool down. In between teaching content, cross-training including but not limited to anaerobic cardio, core strength exercises, leg strengthening exercises with bands/weights, and flexibility work with yoga mats. If instruction requires extra materials, they will either be provided for the dancers, or parents/guardians will be informed prior to the class.
What Should my Dancer Wear /Bring to their First Class?
We are so excited for you to join us for your first day! For all of our dancers, we require that hair is pulled back away from their face in any style of their preference. When dancers intend to elevate their training, they wear specific Irish dancing shoes called ghillies and heavy shoes. However, for a starting dancer, we recommend coming to class in sneakers with non-slip socks on.

In addition, please bring a water bottle, a snack if needed, and exercise clothes on so that your dancer is comfortable and ready to dance!
Where Can I See my Dancer Perform?
We love it when our dancers perform. If your dancer is in one of our enrichment programs, then they will be apart of an end-of-program parent showcase. More information will be provided prior to performance. If you are an independent dancer with Mumford Academy, then you have many opportunities to see your dancer on stage! Due to St. Patrick's Day, March will be the busiest season when our dancers take to the stage for a myriad of shows. In addition, Mumford Academy hosts an end of the year Summer Showcase for all of our dancers to perform for their loved ones. More information on all shows will be provided to each parent/guardian prior to actualization.
